World Cup – Serbia-Brazil
Let’s head out to the Otkrytiye Arena in the Russian capital Moscow, where Serbia meets Brazil in a match from Group E of the FIFA World Cup.
Brazil are leading the group with 4 points won so far, while Serbia are 3rd with 3 points, but still having chances to reach the 1/8-finals of the competition. Brazil can qualify even with a draw in this match, while the Serbians do not have any other option, but to beat Selecao. If Serbia do not win this game, the Eagles will say goodbye to the competition.
Brazil started with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, which was followed by a difficult, but very important 2-0 win over Costa Rica. The Brazilians scored two late goals in this match, which allowed them to top the group before the last round. Philippe Coutinho is the team’s most influental player so far in the tournament, scoring in both games the team played until now.
Serbia started the competition in the best way possible – with a win against Costa Rica in the first game, but they lost their second match against Switzerland. But nothing is over for the Balkan team just yet. It sounds like a really complicated task, but a win against Brazil would mean that the Eagles will reach the next phase of the tournament.
Most likely the Brazilian manager Tite will rely on the same team which he put on the pitch against Costa Rica. Danilo and Douglas Costa are injured, so most likely they are not going to feature in the match against Serbia. Douglas Costa was one of the substitutes which Tite used against Costa Rica in the previous game.
Meanwhile the Serbian boss Mladen Krstajic can use his full squad for the game and there’s no doubt that he will put his best eleven on the pitch. Playing against the five time world champion Brazil is always an honour, but this time for the Serbians it’s going to be something more – a crucial battle, which will decide if they are going to continue at the World Cup or they will go home.
Before the game Krstajic said that he spotted some weaknesses in Brazil’s team, which his players could use. It remains to be seen if this is true. But one thing is for sure – Brazil are not as perfect as their fans would like them to be.
We shall expect a great football spectacle between Serbia and Brazil. Both teams have very technical and skilled players, who know how to act with the ball. They also have a big desire to reach the 1/8-finals, so you can be sure that team spirit is going to be one of the decisive factors in the match. If you think that this is going to be a piece of cake for Brazil, we assure you that it’s not going to be. Brazil are not as dominating as everyone thought they will be. At least they were not against Switzerland and Costa Rica. Serbia on the other hand have a talented team, which can hurt every opponent of his.
