Roma – Juventus
Roma are locked in a fight for a Top 4 finish in the Calcio, chasing a return to the Champions League next season. At this moment the Wolves are 4th in the league with 35 points, but their advantage in front of the 5th Atalanta is just one point.
Paulo Fonseca’s team will try to bounce back after suffering a third defeat since the start of the season. Last week Roma had a bad experience at the Olimpico when they hosted Torino and got beaten with 0-2. The Bulls scored two goals at the end of the two halves, both scored by their star striker Andrea Belotti. In the second half Fonseca brought in Henrikh Mkhitaryain, Nikola Kalinic and Cengiz Under, but Torino did well and defended their lead.
After such a dissapointing performance Roma’s manager could make some changes for the next game. At least one among Mkhitaryan and Under could return to the starting line-up. It’d be interesting to see Fonseca’s plans for this match.
Meanwhile Juventus continue the title race with Inter Milan. Right now both teams are having the same amount of points on top, but Inter are first because of better goal difference. At this moment Juve are aware that every mistake they make could cost them the title.
In the previous round Juve made a solid impression by scoring four goals against Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick, while Gonzalo Higuain added one for the win.
Most likely Juventus’ manager Maurizio Sarri will continue using Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala upfront, while Gonzalo Higuain would be ready to enter the pitch from the bench.
That’s our preview for the Serie A derby between Roma and Juventus on Sunday. Will Juve manage to stay close to Inter Milan or maybe Roma would do the Nerazzurri a favour?
