Real Sociedad – Barcelona
Real Sociedad and Barcelona are ready to offer us a spectacle when they face each other in a game from the 1/2-finals of the Spanish Super Cup. La Real and Barca will meet at the Estadio Nuevo Arcangel in Cordoba on Wednesday. Let’s preview it in the next few minutes.
Real Sociedad are not in their best shape in the last two months. The Basques started the season very strong and at certain moment they were leaders in La Liga, but now they have won just one of their last 12 matches in all competitions. It’s really a mystery what happened to Imanol Alguacil’s team – they are shadow of themselves lately.
La Real’s star in attack Mikel Oyarzabal returned from injury and that’s great news for Sociedad, but the legendary David Silva remains sidelined with an injury. Silva is a huge asset for the team, so his absence is being felt for sure.
In their last match Real Sociedad paid a visit to Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the Andalusian capital and scored twice, but Sevilla managed to win this one with 3-2.
Barcelona are aiming to win their first trophy for the season and the first one since the arrival of the new manager Ronald Koeman. Lately Barca are in a pretty good shape and they are proving it with their recent results – Los Cules won four of their last five matches in the league, last three of them away from home. This gives them some serious confidence before the first 1/2-final for the Super Cup.
Few days ago Koeman’s boys faced Granada away from home and celebrated a convincing 4-0 win at the Nuevo Los Carmenes. It was a great day for Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann as both of them scored braces. Griezmann recorded an assist as well.
That’s the preview for the Super Cup 1/2-finals game between Real Sociedad and Barcelona. Can La Real surprise and hurt Barca here? They are not in their best shape lately, but they have some chances.
