Paderborn welcomes Borussia Dortmund

Paderborn welcomes Borussia Dortmund at the Benteler-Arena on Sunday in a game from the 29th round of the Bundesliga. Let’s preview this fixture and see what’s going on with these two teams.

Paderborn continue to dream about survival in the Bundesliga, but they continue to be at the bottom of the league with just 19 points. Since the quarantine break Paderborn made three consecutive draws, but they are still 8 points behind the 16th Fortuna Dusseldorf and the relegation playoff spot. It’s good for Paderborn that they are not losing lately, but they need to start winning as well in order to keep their hopes.

On Sunday Paderborn won’t be using their Albanian midfielder Klaus Gjasula who is currently injured and not avaliable for selection. In the same time Luca Kilian is injured and also not avaliable.

For Borussia Dortmund it’s not a good time as during the week they suffered a very decisive loss against the leader Bayern Munich at the Signal Iduna Park. Die Borussen were in a good position to attack the first spot, but now they are 7 points behind the Bavarian giants. Is the title race now over? One could say so. It was Joshua Kimmich’s goal which separated the two teams.

Borussia Dortmund’s manager Lucien Favre can’t use Nico Schulz and Dan Axel Zagadou who are injured. Against Bayern Munich Favre left Jadon Sancho, Emre Can and Gio Reyna on the bench, so he could make some changes in his lineup and do some adjustments. Especially for Sancho we expect to see him in the starting eleven against Paderborn.

That’s our preview for the Bundesliga fixture between Paderborn and Borussia Dortmund from the 29th round. Borussia Dortmund are hurt now because of their loss against Bayern Munich, but maybe now they will show something much better against such a struggling team.
