Olympiakos Piraeus – Barcelona

Olympiakos Piraeus hosts Barcelona in a match from Group D of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

This is a game between the first and the last team in the group. Barcelona are leaders with a perfect record of 9 points won so far, while the Greek team doesn’t have a point won so far. It’s a typical match between a favourite and an underdog.

How we said, Barca are perfect in the Champions League so far – three games and three wins. Just two weeks ago these two teams met in Barcelona and the Catalan giant won the match with 3-1. This was the first goal they have conceded in the competition this season. Now they will travel to Greece to meet Olympiakos for a second time.

Olympiakos on the other hand didn’t win even a point in the first three games. Their most realistic goal is fighting with Sporting CP for the third place in the group and the right to participate in Europa League. But so far they are losing the battle with the Portuguese club.

In the Spanish La Liga Barcelona are also dominating. They are leaders with nine wins from ten games played and eight points advantage in front of the champion and biggest rival Real Madrid. It looks like everything is working well for the new manager Ernesto Valverde, who replaced Luis Enrique on Barca’s helm. In their latest game Barcelona achieved an important win over Athletic Bilbao away from home.

Let’s have a look at the Greek league as well. Olympiakos are struggling there, being 4th in the standings with five points behind the leader Atromitos. They have lost three times in the last five matches in the Super League, which tells us that Olympiakos are facing some difficulties in their performance at the moment.
