Newcastle United – Wolves

In a game at the St. James’ Park, Newcastle United welcomes Wolverhampton Wanderers from the schedule of Premier League’s 10th round. Here’s a good moment to take a look at this fixture.

We all knew that it’s going to be a tough season for Newcastle and that’s exactly what it is for them so far. Right now the Magpies are in the relegation zone of the league, being 18th with 8 points won. It’s the same amount of points the 17th Southampton have as well, but the Saints have a better goal difference.

In their last five matches Newcastle won just once – against Manchester United at home. This win was followed by another loss – their fifth for the season. Steve Bruce’s boys travelled to London to face Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge, but a winning goal from Marcos Alonso separated them in favour of the Blues.

Steve Bruce’s task this season is going to be very difficult. He needs to find a way to save Newcastle from relegation, so every point is going to be crucial.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in a fine form at the moment. In their last four matches the Wolves won twice and made two draws with one of their wins being over the champion Manchester City. A week after Nuno Santo’s boys beat the Cityzens at the Etihad, they shared the points with Southampton for a 1-1 draw at the Molineux. Danny Ings put the visitors away, but Raul Jimenez equalised for the hosts from a penalty kick.

Few days ago Wolves had a game in Europa League’s group stage. They visited Slovan Bratislava and secured a 2-1 win. In their last five games in all competitions Wolverhampton have four wins, which is a very good stat.

Despite of playing away from home, Wolverhampton Wanderers are slight favourites to win against Newcastle United. But be careful with the Magpies, because recently they managed to beat Manchester United at the St. James’ Park.
