Liverpool – Southampton

Liverpool welcomes Southampton in a crucial for the home team game in the English Premier League.

The Reds are still about to secure their place in the Champions League for the next sea-son. Right now Jurgen Klopp’s boys are 4th in the standings, having a 4 point advantage in front of Manchester United. But they also have played one game more than the Red Devils.

And while Manchester United can qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League, Liverpool’s only chance of doing so is by finishing in the Top 4 of the Premier League. So that’s why winning on a regular basis in the last rounds is very important for them.

As for Southampton, The Saints are 12th in the league, already have secured their survival for another season. Now they can relax a little bit and finish the season, after already reaching their main goal.

Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp can’t use the injured Sadio Mane until the end of the season, while Phillipe Coutinho is dobtful for The Reds because of a thigh injury.

The home team will be without its star defender Virgil Van Dijk, who is currently injured. The same could be said about Alex McCarthy as well.

Liverpool managed to bounce back after the dissapointing home defeat against Crystal Palace, winning its visit to Watford. The Reds started the season with high hopes and dreams of winning the title, but it seems that Jurgen Klopp’s team is still not ready to achieve such a goal.

Southampton on the other hand won just one point in its last three games. The Saints won a point against Hull City, but lost the matches with Manchester City and Southampton before that.

Liverpool have more reasons to be highly motivated to win this game, but everyone in England plays for its honor, so do not write off Southampton just yet.
