Liverpool – Manchester United
Liverpool will try to make another step towards the Premier League title when they host Manchester United on Sunday in the biggest derby of English football.
Everything says right now that Liverpool can’t possibly be stopped of winning their first league title since 30 years. The Reds are doing one of the best seasons the Premier League has ever seen. Right now they are leading the standings with 61 points and phenomenal record of 20 wins and 1 draw from 21 games played. That’s just incredible, if you think about it for a minute.
Before the start of the season the manager Jurgen Klopp stated that winning the Premier League is his team’s major goal for the campaign and he didn’t lie. Right now the Reds are functioning so well, some people start to wonder if they can actually finish the season unbeaten or with a new record for most points ever won during a season.
Jurgen Klopp has some problems before this derby against United, because he can’t use the injured Fabinho, Naby Keita and James Milner. Despite of this, Liverpool still have their “A” team, so they are approaching this derby on Sunday as red hot favourite to take the win.
For Manchester United this clash at the Anfield is going to be all about survival. The Red Devils’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is well aware how difficult is for the visiting team to play at this stadium, especially with Liverpool being so great at the moment.
We expect to see Solskjaer using a more defensive approach on Sunday, preparing his team to defend and wait for any chance they get on counter-attack. If he tries to outplay Liverpool and Klopp, most likely it won’t end well.
In conclusion we can say that that’s not the best moment for Manchester United to face Liverpool at the Anfield. The hosts know that winning here is going to be another solid step towards the title, so we believe it’d be very surprising if they don’t take all of the points.
