Lillestrom – Stabaek

Lillestrom hosts Stabaek in a match from the 17th round of the Norway’s Eliteserien division. The game is going to be played on Saturday night.

Lillestrom are currently 10th in the league standings, having improved their position after winning four points from the last two matches against Stromsgodset and Sarpsborg 08. They have won three of their six wins in the league in the last five rounds, which tells us that they are in a pretty good form. They have lost just once in these last five games – against Valerenga away from home.

Lillestrom still have a negative goal difference, though. They have scored 23 goals in the league so far and conceded 24.

As for Stabaek, they are doing a little better in the league at the moment. They are 5th in the standings with 24 points won. They are on just three points behind Brann and Sarpsborg 98 in the Top 3, so reaching the Europa League is a realistic goal for this team. All they have to do is being consistent and win as much points as possible.

Right now Stabaek are in a run of two consecutive wins, which speaks well of their current form. In these last two matches they have won against Sandefjord and Brann. Before that they had a bad run of three consecutive losses.

So far in the league they have scored 24 goals and conceded 28. Just like their next opponent Lillestrom, they also have a negative goal difference at the moment. But even with that, they are in the Top 5, which is an interesting paradox.

We could say that Stabaek are the favourite in this clash, because of league position. But let’s not forget that Lillestrom have the home ground advantage, so be aware of that. It could be crucial.
