Freiburg – Borussia M’gladbach
We are heading to the Schwarzwald-Stadion where Freiburg will face Borussia M’gladbach in a fixture from the 30th round of the Bundesliga. Are you ready to take a look at this preview? Let’s go.
Surely things could have been better for Freiburg since the restart of the season after the COVID-19 break. Since the German teams returned to action, Freiburg won just two points in four matches played. Without a win in the last four rounds, they remain 8th in the league with 38 points and a record of 10 wins, 8 draws and 11 losses. Freiburg are still in the race for Europa League qualification, though, being just four points behind the 6th Wolfsburg and the 7th Hoffenheim.
Let’s take a look what Freiburg did in their last game. Christian Streich’s guys lost for a 11th time this season. Freiburg hosted Bayer Leverkusen, but they were unable to penetrate their opponent’s defense. In the 54th minute Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz scored the winner for the visitors.
Borussia M’gladbach are doing much better. In the race for a Champions League qualification, M’gladbach are currently 4th in the league with 56 points. They must continue to give their best effort, though, because the 5th Bayer Leverkusen have the same amount of points.
During the weekend Borussia M’gladbach made a statement by beating the visiting Union Berlin with 4-1 at home. Even without fans at the stands, Marco Rose’s boys showed some inspiration. Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea both scored for the hosts, while Florian Neuhaus also put the ball in the net. It was a great game for Alassane Plea, who scored a goal and made two assists to Marcus Thuram.
