Eintracht Frankfurt hosts Borussia M’gladbach

Eintracht Frankfurt hosts Borussia M’gladbach at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt in a game from the 26th round of the Bundesliga. This is a return to action for both teams after the two months COVID-19 quarantine break. It’s going to be interesting to see how these two teams will look like on Saturday.

Eintracht Frankfurt approach this fixture from 12th place in the standings. Clearly Eintracht are not having the season they hoped for after reaching Europa League’s 1/2-finals in the end of the previous campaign. Players like Luka Jovic and Sebastian Haller left the club and clearly this was too much of a hit for the club’s ambitions.

Before the break, Eintracht Frankfurt suffered two losses in five games against Bayer Leverkusen and Basel. In these two matches Eintracht didn’t score any goals and conceded seven. The manager Adi Hutter is still trying to fix things and raise his team’s levels, but if he don’t do it in remaining weeks, he could even lose his job.

Borussia M’gladbach were at a complete different level before the break. M’gladbach are currently 4th in the league with 49 points, being in the race for a Champions League return. Right now the club is just one point behind the third RB Leipzig and two points ahead of the fifth Bayer Leverkusen.

In their last game before the break Borussia M’gladbach faced Koln at home and celebrated a difficult 2-1 win. Breel Embolo scored the first goal for M’gladbach, while Koln’s Jorge Mere scored himself an own goal. Against Eintracht Frankfurt Borussia M’gladbach can’t use the suspended Florian Neuhaus. At the same time the Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria is recovering from his latest injury.

That’s our quick review about the Bundesliga fixture between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia M’gladbach on Saturday. It’d be curious to see how these two teams will perform after the two months break.
