Brondby – Lyngby

Brondby hosts Lyngby in a match from the third round of the Danish Superliga.

Brondby are one of the teams who can trouble the champion Copenhagen and challenge them for the title. But they didn’t start the new season in the most convincing way. After scoring four games against Midtjylland in the first round, Brondby suffered their first defeat in the league. They were beaten during their visit to Nordsjælland, losing the match with 2-3.

This is the reason why Brondby are currently 7th in the league standings, but with a game in hand to some of the teams at the top.

As for Lyngby, they started the new campaign in exactly the same way as Brondby – with a win and a loss.

In the first round Lyngby beat Silkeborg at home, but in the next round they lost very badly the visit to Horsens – 1-4. It was a really bad game for Lyngby and most surely they will try to forget it as soon as possible. But can they recover soon enough to face Brondby? We shall see.

One thing is certain – Brondby will be much more tired than their next opponent. During the week they had a game in Europa League, facing Hajduk Split in a game from the 3rd qualifying round of the competition. The game in Brondby ended with a 0-0 draw.

It’s interesting to see if Brondby’s manager Alexander Zorniger is going to rest some of his key players for the rematch with Hajduk in Croatia. It’s going to be a difficult trip for his team, so don’t be surprised if you see some of the back-up players find a place in the starting line-up against Lyngby. And maybe this is the chance for Lyngby here to win the game.
