Bournemouth – Manchester City

AFC Bournemouth welcomes Manchester City in a match from the third round of the Premier League. We expect an intriguing game at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, so let’s take a look.

Bournemouth started well the new season in the league, winning four points from the first two rounds. In the first round Eddie Howe’s boys made а 1-1draw at home against the newcomer Sheffield United, while a week later the Cherries visited Aston Villa at the Villa Park and achieved a 2-1 win – their first for the season.

The game in Birmingham started in a brilliant way for the visitors. After just 12 minutes of playing, Bournemouth already had two goals advantage in their favour. The Norwegian international Joshua King opened the score, while Harry Wilson doubled the lead.

After the halftime Aston Villa played a little bit better and even scored a goal when the Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz found the net behind Aaron Ramsdale. But sadly for the fans at the Villa Park, the hosts were unable to at least equalise.

The champion Manchester City kicked off its campaign with a very convincing win over West Ham at the London Stadium, but last week the Cityzens lost points for a first time this season. Pep Guardiola’s side hosted Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad. The game ended with a 2-2 draw, so right now City are already two points behind Liverpool and Arsenal.

Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero scored for the champions, but Tottenham didn’t give up and won the point with goals from Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura. In the second half Guardiola tried to change something, but the inclusion of Gabriel Jesus, David Silva and Riyad Mahrez didn’t help, too.

Manchester City are aware that the title race is going to be brutal again, so they can’t allow themselves to start losing points at such early phase. But what Bournemouth will do to oppose them?
