Bayern Munich – Eintracht Frankfurt
It’s time once again for the big DFB Pokal in Berlin. The Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich faces Eintracht Frankfurt in a direct clash for the trophy. Let’s see what’s going on with these two teams
For Bayern the goal here is only one – to win the double once again. Just as it was expected, the Bavarians dominated the Bundesliga and didn’t have any problems to win the title for just another year. Some might say that the German league is getting a lit boring, because of they way Bayern dominates. But what can the others do? Nothing, except of try to do better.
Bayern will try to say goodbye to their legendary manager Jupp Heynckes with a trophy. Heynckes replaced Carlo Ancelotti during the season and immediately managed to improve the team. He was aiming for a second treble, but the loss against Real Madrid in the Champions League failed him and his plans. But still – a double is a double, so winning the DFB Pokal is going to be huge for the Bavarians.
Eintracht Frankfurt reached the DFB Pokal final for a second consecutive year. Last season they lost the big game against Borussia Dortmund, but now they get another chance to aim for the glory. Of course, for them it’s going to be even more difficult against Bayern. But a final is a final – everything could happen.
For Eintracht’s manager Niko Kovac it’s going to be a strange feeling. The Croatian tactician is leaving the club to take the helm at Bayern Munich. In other words, Kovac is facing his next club. But it doesn’t mean that he won’t try to win the trophy on Saturday night.
Bayern Munich are the favourite here, but it doesn’t mean that Eintracht don’t have a chance. Everything could happen in a final, don’t forget this.
