Tottenham Hotspur – Manchester City
The 25th round of the English Premier League will end with the derby match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in London on Sunday. It’s always a great event when Jose Mourinho and Josep Guardiola go head to head – two managers with an amazing rivalry between them.
Jose Mourinho replaced the sacked Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, but the club’s performance is still not as consistent as he would like to be. In Mourinho’s defense we can say that every manager deserves the opportunity to have a pre-season with his team. The Special One didn’t have this chance, so we must judge his results next season. That’s what we think about it right now.
Tottenham’s big goal this season is to finish in the Top 4 and play in the Champions League again. It won’t be easy because the 4th Chelsea are 6 points away, but this is not an impossible gap, too.
In the previous round Spurs celebrated their 9th win for the season. Tottenham beat Norwich City at home with goals from Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min. This was Christian Eriksen’s last game for Tottenham before his move to Inter Milan.
Manchester City know that they are not in the title race anymore, being 19 points behind Liverpool. What the Cityzens can do now is keep the second place and focus on the other competitions.
Despite of this, City’s form in the Premier League at the moment is good. The champions won four of their last five games. In the previous round Guardiola’s boys won a difficult visit to Sheffield United after a winning goal from Kun Aguero.
Maybe at this moment this game is more important for Tottenham than it is for Manchester City, but despite of this we expect a pretty good rivalry here at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
