Jong Ajax – Jong AZ

Ajax II hosts AZ II in a game from the 31th round of the Dutch Eerste Divisie. Let’s examine this game in a few words.

Ajax II are currently the best team in the Eerste Divisie. They are leaders in the standings with 61 points, being on par with NEC, but having a game in hand. So far Ajax’s record is showing 19 wins, 4 draws and 7 defeats.

In their last five matches Ajax II won three times (against Almere City, Eindhoven and De Graafschap) and suffered two defeats against Utrecht II and Go Ahead Eagles. Despite of these two losses, Ajax II are still leading the table in the second tier of Dutch football.

AZ II on the other hand are 15th in the Eerste Divisie with 36 points won so far. They have a record of 11 wins, 3 draws and 16 defeats since the beginning of the season. Although their position in the league is not good, AZ are in a pretty good form lately. They have won three of their last five matches (against PSV II, Emmen and Almere City), made one draw (against Go Ahead Eagles) and suffered just one defeat against Helmond Sport.

It’s interesting to follow if AZ II would be able to keep their nice performance lately against the leader in the league, too. AZ II had a difficult campaign so far, but they are performing good lately.

The Colombian striker Mateo Cassierra is Ajax II’s most profilic player at the moment, having scored 14 goals this season. The 20-years old midfielder Dani de Wit is following closely with 12 goals scored.

Ferdy Druijf is AZ II’s best goalscorer with 6 goals in 15 games played so far. It would be interesting to follow the duel between these players of Ajax II and AZ II.
