Bayern Munich – Borussia M’gladbach

Bayern Munich hosts Borussia M’gladbach in a match from the 30th round of the German Bundesliga.

Bayern already won the title for a 6th consecutive time, so now they can relax and just finish the season. And concentrate entirely on the DFB Pokal and the Champions League, trying to win their second treble after 2013.

20 points – this is the gap between Bayern Munich and the 2nd Schalke 04. The Bavarians are on a whole different level, compared to every other team in Germany right now. Which tells us that the Bundesliga have some serious problems, when we talk about competition in the title race. Bayern winning the trophy for a 6th consecutive times just proves it.

Bayern Munich’s record since the beginning of the season shows 23 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. They started the season with Carlo Ancelotti at helm, but the Italian was sacked and replaced by club legend Jupp Heynckes. Heynckes reminded everyone that he’s a top manager, bringing Bayern back to their best. Now his goal is to win a second treble after the one he won with Bayern in 2013.

Borussia M’gladbach on the other hand are currently 8th in the Bundesliga standings with 40 points won. They are on 6 points behind the 6th RB Leipzig, so they still have some theoretical chance to finish in the Top 6 and to qualify for Europa League. But they are most certainly not among the favourites to do that.

So far Borussia M’gladbach have a record of 11 wins, 7 draws and 11 defeats. In their last five games M’gladbach won just once – against Hertha BSC, making three draws and suffering one defeat against Bayer Leverkusen away from home.

It’s normal to expect another showdown from Bayern Munich. Can Borussia M’gladbach rival them at the Allianz Arena? We shall see.
