Arsenal – Ostersunds
Arsenal hosts Ostersunds FK in a second leg from the UEFA Europa League 1/16-finals. The game is going to be played at the Emirates Stadium in London.
We can easily say that Arsenal already did their job in the first game, winning it comfortably with a 3-0 result. Goals by Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil and an own goal from Sotirios Papagiannopoulos meant that the Swedish team is more or less already out of the competition.
For Ostersunds it was a real pleasure to play against a team like Arsenal, but it’s obvious that the difference between these two clubs is too big. Compared to the Gunners, the Swedes are not team which can trouble a powerhouse like the English giants.
The first game was a total domination by Arsenal and it was expected by all. Now we shall see how Arsenal are going to end this at home.
It won’t be surprising to see the manager Arsene Wenger give chance to players who feature more rarely in his starting line-up. Just like he did with the 20-years old Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the first leg.
For Arsenal it’s very important to do something significant in Europa League this season. They are trailing on 8 points behind the 4th Chelsea in the Premier League, so for them it’s going to be difficult to qualify for the Top 4 and return to the Champions League. The only other option for the Gunners remains winning the Europa League. For sure they are one of the biggest contenders for winning this trophy.
Plus, Arsenal are rarely winning any trophies in the last more than ten years, so every trophy is important for the club. This would be a good way for Arsene Wenger to redeem himself in front of the club’s fans.
