Arsenal – Atletico Madrid

Arsenal hosts Atletico Madrid in a first UEFA Europa League semifinal between these two European giants. We can safely conclude that the two biggest favourites for the trophy are facing each other at the Emirates Stadium in London.

If the draw didn’t make them face each other, most likely these two teams would be the finalists in the competition. The one who wins this clash will be a huge favourite at the final in Lyonnais.

Arsenal reached the 1/2-finals of Europa League after beating CSKA Moscow in the previous round. The Gunners had some difficult moments in Moscow when they were down to 0-2, but two late goals allowed them to reach the next phase.

Meanwhile Atletico Madrid also had some trouble with Sporting CP, losing the second leg at Lisboa. But their 2-0 win in the first game was enough for them to continue.

For Arsenal it’s important to win Europa League because of two different reasons. First, this would allow them to reach the Champions League – something, which can’t happen through the Premier League. And second – this is the last season of Arsene Wenger in the club, so everyone would like to see the legendary Frenchman leave Arsenal with a trophy.

But of course, Atletico Madrid also want to win the competition. The Spaniars reached twice the Champions League final in the last few years, so they know how to do it. This Atletico side have some terrific players, who are hungry for European success.

We expect to see some great tactical battle between both managers Arsene Wenger and Diego Simeone. They have different philosophies for the game, but this will make their duel even more intereresting.

This is our take on the Europa League game between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid. Whatever you have decided – good luck!
